Unrequited Love

Blinking lights from skyscrapers;

Vast black waters in front of us –

You & me & wooden bleachers.

Frozen air.

My heart could not stop racing.

Then something magical happened.

Warmth. Fuzz.

Time stood still.

I was enchanted.

You were suddenly so close, oh so near.

I could almost taste you.

You held my hand, oh you felt my hair,

Your palm brushed against my leg,

Oh and I swear I could feel your flare.

It was the perfect moment held

until you said,

My heart belongs to someone else.
